Fly Fishing Lessons

While you can learn to fly fish on either one of our float  or wade trips, this is more about learning the building blocks to enjoying the sport to the fullest.  I am honored to be Elevation Outdoor Magazine “Best of the Rockies”, “Best Guide” covering 6 states. as well as being voted the “Local’s favorite guide” multiple times. You just tell us what you want to learn, and we can customize a lesson just for you or a party of up to 10. This can be for one person or for a party of 10. We can start with a short 1 hour classroom style presentation. What’s similar between a spin fishing rod and a fly rod. What’s different about the two. What fly rod should I buy? How do I rig my new fly rod? What knots should I know? Can you teach me how to cast? Can you teach me to cast farther? What’s the difference between dry fly fishing and nymph fishing? Where do the fish prefer to live? What is entomology (bugs)? It’s up to you, or we can just wing it. We can make it really simple, or really build some basics, you just tell us what you want. If you are in or around Glenwood Springs, or Aspen, Colorado, you really should learn to fly fish. Unlike skiing, Once you have some gear, the lift tickets are free.

We can cover most of this in about 1-2 hours, and then go to the river, and put our new knowledge to work.

We’d love to share our knowledge with you! Give us a call.
