May 16, 2017. Now is the time to book this trip, as it is crazy good. these monster trout haven’t seen a fly for 6 months.
The Bar ZX Ranch is the most amazing place to catch monster trout in the world, as well as being one of the most scenic places in Colorado. It was voted the #1 still water trout fishery, not only in Colorado, but all of America, by Fly Fish Magazine. It is located a short 60 minutes away from Glenwood Springs, Colorado, and it could be your dream trip of a lifetime. If you are fly fishing in or around Glenwood Springs, Colorado, you should put this on your bucket list. We’re talking trout that start at 3 pound and grow to over 20 pounds. The odds of landing one of these monsters over 7 pounds is in your favor. Dean and Cathy Lampton are amazing hosts to this property, and to be one of the exclusive outfitting guides is an honor. We’ve been guiding on this little piece of heaven for over 15 years.
There are 26 lakes and ponds to fish. Each one was stocked with different species of trout You can fish for Snake River Cutthroats, German Browns, Cutthroats, Western Rainbows and Cutthroats, Tasmanian Rainbows, Eastern Brook Trout (up to 5 pounds), wild Brook Trout (up to 6 pounds), and Tiger Trout. The average fish landed is about 5 pounds. Eight to 12 pound trout are frequently landed. It’s not uncommon to be the lucky client that got to have a 17-18 pound fish on, with maybe a 20% chance of landing it. These fish will come up for dry flies, especially late evening. We call it Happy Hour. This trip usually starts mid day and goes until dark (9:00 pm sure to check it out on our website, you’ll be glad you did. Check it out at our website, www.harcourtflyfishing.com, and look for it under guide trips. You’ll be glad you did.

Hi Dustin. This is a note from your first B and B customer. Just wanted you to know I enjoyed a great reunion visit with your Dad last week at Gianetti’s. We found a fly box on the creek with John’s name and number on it….so I gave him a call and he drove down from New Castle. We had a good chat and John gave me some good insider tips on fishing the spring creeks. John also mentioned you have contact with a landowner who might need some free advice on river habitat restoration. I am retired from river restoration work, but I am available to walk the bank and kick the dirt and come up with some ideas for restoration. Glad to do it.
thanks for searching my dad’s fly box out. We think the world of you. It pays to have your contact info on all of your fly boxes.
